The Convention on the Rights of People with Disabilities has been a major milestone in advancing the rights of people with disabilities. It establishes that the discrimination of people with disabilities is a violation of human rights and promotes the respect for their inherent dignity. The major challenge has been addressing the gap between policy and practice.People with disabilities experience multiple discrimination in society, women and children with disabilities are particularly more vulnerable.

We do acknowledge that multiple and intersectional forms of discrimination impact the most marginalised. It is exceptionally important to provide people with disabilities with an accessible environment that enables them to participate on an equal basis with others. An inclusive society is possible, and to achieve this goal, we acknowledge the various policies, structures and systems, which provide the opportunity to incorporate the rights, concerns and ideas of people with disabilities in the development agenda. Vision Ability Zimbabwe will collaborate with various stakeholders to promote the full realisation of the rights of people with disabilities in all aspects of life and development.
